I will try and keep things short: In that one novel the third person onisciente narrator says that Ferris should had be born a girl, it is show that she has uneasiness with male secondary phisical caracterists, did evade male puberty by praying very hard, changed her name from Felix to Ferris, and use only the feminine variety of pronouns - wich is consistent trough re zero in Japan, but was translated as masculine pronouns to the rest of the world (and tho one migth be eager to atribute that to transphobia the translators actually were in a hard spot, because Japnanese pronouns are more flexible than english pronouns) there is prob some more details, but let's move. I kinda of regret even bringing it up because there is a LOOOT of stuff that can be said about Ferris, most of it is related to QNAs and this one ligth Novel focused on the character From what i can see, characters like him could easily be classified as non-binary just as easily, or simply classified by their biological sex I never heard of such circles, but in the communities I'm in trans people don't tend to like it because times trans characters get called traps in wich case it can means a) That person is calling trans people decivious, because that is what IRL traps are or B) That person is conflating crossdressers and trans people.Įxemples of characters that are trans and I see many people calling traps are Luka Urushibara (Literally changed sex, only came back to save a life) Liliy Hosikawa and Ferris Argyle (Tho you would need to read the source material to know)Īren't the Knights in Re:Zero all or at least mostly male though? I don't recall seeing anywhere where felix was explicitly stated to be trans though, just as being biologically male, so likely there isn't a canon gender identity for him (i suppose when the anime adapts that part of the source material it might change, also idk if japan actually has the same concept of gender and sex being often considered seperate, and recent developments might have changed or complicated things).
So by saying it's gay, me being male, I insult them in some way.
I think it says there are circles in which traps are considered also trans women. Thank you for saving me, Mr ContraPoints!Īccording to Dr Joe Kort you can suck dick and fuck men in the ass and still be 100% straight, so yeah traps aren't said: Then, a mentally ill man in women's clothing who repeatedly mutilated his body through hormone injections & Mengele-esque surgeries told me that I was the one who was living in an unhealthy false reality. I used to be radicalized by the far right. With that being said.hopefully we can have a nice civil discussion on these topics.
The reason I also want to bring light to this old meme is because of this BULLSHIT "Super Straight" Cringey as fuck thing has now started to gain traction.įor those wondering.YES it is transphobic, 100% and yet another attempt for people on the FAR RIGHT (including alt-Right dipshits) to try to normalize their hatred and bigotry. Now, I will say that in the ANIME world.I don't have any problems calling characters "Traps", but in the real world, I don't think I'm going to be doing that anymore.įemboy is a much better term IMO and there are ZERO negative implications behind it.remember SOME guys who like to crossdress and act feminine are NOT necessarily trans or wanting to be trans, they are more than likely "Femboys" and the distinction should be aptly named. I think I started to change my mind when I saw Contrapoints video on this subject: I will admit, I have used this phrase a lot and I always kept it to the meme/joking aspects of it all. I remember when the "Are traps gay" thing came about, it was NEVER meant to be transphobic it was just fun and games in the ANIME world, not necessarily the real world. So.I've been watching anime for a LOOOOONG time, as you guys can see, I joined MAL in 2008 but I started watching anime around 2005 or 2006.
